You might have noticed Huntly made the national news on Monday following flooding in the town on Sunday night. That flooding had to include the area covered by the ski centre, fortunately the buildings were unscathed, but there have been many tonnes of shingle dumped on the rollerski track and there has been quite a lot of damage to the track as well.

Eagle eyed visitors to the ski centre today will have noticed members of the BritNordic Ski team trying out their new strips for the 2009/2010 season. The strip this year is sponsored by Trimtex the Norwegian sportswear manufacturer based in Lillesand. Hopefully they will receive lots of positive publicity from our team members this year!

Despite the terrible weather the Ski Centre open day went ahead today. Hardy skiers turned out with visitors from as far afield as Glasgow and Crieff, although numbers were considerably down on 2008. Sessions were held througout the day on to give members of the public tasters in Nordic Walking, Nordic Skiing and downhill technique on Nordic Skis.

The men’s individual competition was won by Andrzej Honezar ahead of Ian Ballentine.
While The ladies individual competition was won by Karolina Bicova ahead of Faye Potton of the RAF and club member Debora May.

Now’s your opportunity to pick up some good skis etc. for the kids. The skis were only used for one season on snow in Norway.

Here’s a couple of courses run by the Huntly Nordic and Outdoor Centre that club coaches are helping to run.
