This year we had a big field of 51 skiers in glorious sunshine. Thank you to all who took part or helped. In particular Chris Barton & Gordonstoun school for marshalling & timekeeping. A special big thanks to Colin Miller Miller & Jason Williamson for last minute snow shovelling that made the entire 8.6km course skiable.

On another note, there is a beautiful film on the NRK website about Anders Fortun, the man who pistes the Norwegian traing area in Sognefell in June. If you don’t know any Norwegian just sit back and enjoy the delightful snowy scenes in the mountains

Laban Seigmenn
Sunday morning a couple of weeks back Eilleen was handing out Norwegian sweets. They were Laban Seigmenn which is a like a Norwegian jelly baby. I remarked that there was a band who derived their name from the sweets- Seigmenn.
Here’s a video of their tack Metropolis
We have moved
The Huntly Nordic Ski club website has been moved to a new home at one.com. Hopefully this should help Mr Google index the site better and make access faster.
Ski Orienteering Results
The event had a big turnout with 38 skiers taking part from family groups to hot shot youngsters. While some skiers sped around others took a more leisurely approach but hopefully all enjoyed the day. The snow conditions just about held out & the trails are now discontinuous.
Calling Central Belters
The club has been contacted by a visually impaired cross country skier in the Edinburgh area who is looking for a buddy to go out skiing with. Apparently he’s no slouch and has a taste for the down hills!
If you’re interested, drop me a mail at alan.telford@nordicski.co.uk and I will pass on your details.
Snow has arrived in Aberdeenshire
A light dusting of snow reached Aberdeenshire last night and some more showers have been blowing through today.
5 to 7cm of snow have fallen in the Clash but cover is very patchy. Alex and Hugh Standen completed the Haute Route and has claimed the golden boot. Jason Williamson and Colin Miller also successfully made it round the route. BNDS members also took advanage of the snow during a training session at Huntly Nordic and Outdoor Centre.
AGM 27th October 2011
Our 2011 AGM has been scheduled for Thursday 27th November at Huntly Nordic and Outdoor Centre. I would be great if as many members as possible attend. Please contact Peter Thorn if you have any items to add to the agenda.
Also subs are now due for the coming year.
